On the Celtic Wheel of the Year, Imbolc marks the midway point between winter solstice and spring equinox. With its arrival we find ourselves at a threshold in Nature. Here in the northern hemisphere, as we continue our annual cyclical spiral away from the cold, dark months of winter towards the returning light and warmth of spring, promises of renewal and new life are beginning to stir and emerge.

Across the centuries Brigid has been beloved and revered as Saint and Goddess. Her stories have woven their way through the Celtic Lands and into the hearts of many across the globe. She is guardian of sacred flame and holy wells, threshold keeper and midwife. Her attributes invoke healing, transformation, inspiration and creativity amongst many others.

You are invited to join Denise Crawn of Walking Awake for A Weekend Celebrating the Many Blessings of Brigid and Imbolc. Together we will explore the gifts of Brigid, both Goddess and Saint through history, myth, story and traditions of old. We will delve into Brigid of Kildare, Ireland, of Iona, Scotland, and of the mountain where both Kirkridge and Columcille rest. Throughout the weekend, we will also reflect on Imbolc; its association with Brigid and its significance as a spoke on the Celtic Wheel of the Year. We will look deeply into the messages, signs and lessons available to us in Nature at this time of year.

Twenty years ago in February, 2006, Denise along with several other women associated with Columcille Megalith Park began hosting annual Imbolc/Brighid retreats here on the mountain. Originally birthed out of Denise’s then home ‘Tara Brighid’ these retreats grew annually in attendance and eventually moved to the Kirkridge Farmhouse where they continued to take place for a number of years, even after Denise moved away.

Denise is thrilled to return on this 20th anniversary to the Kirkridge Farmhouse to share with others A Weekend Celebrating the Many Blessings of Brighid and Imbolc on the mountain that holds such a special place in her heart.

This retreat will include a mix of story, ritual, ceremony, Imbolc traditions, time in Nature, informational and reflective sessions, music, poetry and crafting.

For those who are interested, following the conclusion of the retreat on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, Denise will be also be leading the Imbolc Celebration at neighbouring Columcille Megalith Park beginning at 2:00pm.

A detailed weekend itinerary will be sent out by Denise in January to those registered for the event.

Please note, while in the past the Brigid Retreats at Kirkridge led by Denise have been exclusive to women, this weekend retreat is open to ALL.
