Join author Roberto Che Espinoza for a multi-session discussion of his book ACTIVIST THEOLOGY. Here’s what he has to say about the book discussion:
“Activist Theology was the first book I wrote after finishing my PhD. I thought it would be important for me to narrate how I understood and understand theology, given that I had spent 2.5 decades studying theology in the Theological Academy. Thus, I set out to start narrating my coming into being what I call an Activist Theologian, someone who takes the stories and life of Jesus seriously. This book is an attempt to return theology to the streets, to untie it from the silo’d existence in the academy. Theology is more than a discipline within Higher Education. All theology is ethics. Theology is lived practice. Theology is the story we are creating together.
Activist Theology is rooted in liberation and justice for all. It is an attempt to bridge the gap between how theology is taught and how it gets lived out. Likewise, I borrow a rhetorical device from a French Postwar Philopsher and deploy repetition throughout the book, but it is repetition and difference. You might read something that sounds repetitive, but there is a twist to it; there is a difference to it. Difference and Repetition is designed to help the reader sink deeper into the rhythms of living a life framed by theology. After all, faith is the art of living together. That is a theological practice.
I look forward to joining you on this journey as we endeavor to live a life framed by good theology in a world composed of violence and death-bringing logics.”
