Over and over again, we hear that this place has saved the lives of LGBTQ+ people. Join us online for an evening of celebration for all the LGBTQ work that has happened on this mountain over the past 82 years.

With anti-trans and queer legislation spreading throughout the country and hate crime on the rise, we know this work continues to be a vital part of the work at Kirkridge. We are excited to tell you about how the work continues, full of joy and a widening of community.

We are thrilled that part of the event will include the public release of the brand new short film from Dallas Meck and Riot Mueller on Sisterly Conversations.

LGBTQ+ people have been central to the life of Kirkridge Retreat & Study Center for its entire 82-year

History. Kirkridge hosted the first-ever retreats for gay, lesbian, and bisexual Christians in the mid-1970s. Since then, it has become a refuge and hub for queer people of spirit from many different faith traditions.

In the 1980s, during the height of the AIDS crisis,  Kirkridge dedicated its Memorial Garden to provide a loving resting place for LGBTQ+ people, many of whom had no one who would claim their remains.

Today, Kirkridge hosts many retreats specific to queer folks and their families, including programming focused on spirituality, the arts, social/racial/economic justice, and personal/cultural healing.

Our queerness shapes everything we do. We hope and believe it helps to bend the arc just a little bit toward justice.

Kirkridge needs the financial support of our community to keep the work thriving. If you can’t attend but want to support the work, you can donate here https://kirkridge.org/give/ or send a check to Kirkridge Retreat Center, 2495 Fox Gap Road, Bangor, PA 18013.
