Kate Commons

Dr. Kate Common, PhD, is the Assistant Professor of Public and Practical Theology at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and the Theologian-in-Residence at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Northampton, MA. Their interdisciplinary research and teaching focuses on queer and feminist theologies, liturgical innovation, transformative leadership, design thinking, and biblical studies. Kate is the author of Undoing Conquest: Ancient Israel, the Bible, and the Future of Christianity (Orbis Books, 2024), which introduces the Season of Origins. They received the Grant for Researchers from The Louisville Institute to develop Origins, a new restorative-justice-centered liturgical season, in collaboration with ecumenical congregations nationwide.
