Niyonu D. Spann
Niyonu D. Spann has been assisting organizations and individuals to effectively fulfill their mission since founding Niyonu Spann Associates in 1994. She is a visionary leader, highly experienced in group facilitating and leadership coaching, with a focus on whole systems transformation and liberation training. Drawing on a graduate degree in Organization Development, she designs and facilitates interventions and small group processes that surface shared vision, tap internal resources, and map out a strategic and dynamic plan to achieve and maintain alignment between day-to-day operations, values, and core mission.
In 1999, she designed and facilitated the first Beyond Diversity 101, a five-day intensive workshop that has since been attended by hundreds of people from organizations and communities throughout North America and Canada.
Niyonu recently transitioned from her role leading CEIO – Co-Creating Effective & Inclusive Organizations,
in New Haven, CT, a project she co-founded with Bill Graustein, with the purpose of increasing inclusivity, justice and equity. She founded the non-profit, 4 Circles Beyond, Inc., which is currently working to create
a high school: Academy for Peace & Liberation Education with an intended opening in 2025. Her first book, with the working title: Whole System Transformation: When you mean to radically transform the system (including you!) is in progress. Niyonu is also a singer-songwriter who founded and directed the group, Tribe 1 for twenty-three years. She released her second solo album, Spirit Fuel! In 2021.
